RESPECT Training Solutions

RESPECT Training Solutions provides bespoke positive behaviour support solutions to services within education, health and social care settings. Our training is delivered by instructors with extensive clinical backgrounds who will work with you to design a training package specific to your organisational need.

Our philosophy is based on the following core principles:

  • 70% prevention, 20% de-escalation and 10% reactive strategies
  • Person-centred approaches based on support, not control
  • Developing and maintaining a long-term learning environment

We believe that training should be interactive, engaging and fun so that delegates can get the most from their learning.  Here are some examples of what we can deliver for you:

  • Factors relating to the causes of occupational violence and behaviours that challenge
  • Practical tools to use for behaviour support planning
  • Scenario based situations to assess why the person is challenging – what’s it all about?
  • Practical, long, medium and short-term prevention strategies
  • Teaching replacement skills, including behaviour consequences
  • Physical intervention and release techniques. If required, we can incorporate physical intervention or release techniques into your training. We will do this, however, as part of a ‘whole approach’ to behaviour support and not in isolation.

We can deliver your training at your premises, a venue of your choice or at our training venue in Leicester and Grimsby.

What makes us different?

We are supervised by an organisation called NAVIGO and, as such, are a community interest company which means that we are a not for profit social enterprise that emerged from the NHS.

We have a team of Senior Professional Leads who sit on our National Standards Committee. This group of people are representatives from Education, Social Care and Health and who work with National (and International) steering groups/initiatives such as Positive and Safe.

The steering committee comprises representation from the following organisations:

Service users are at the heart of everything we do. We have a team of independent service user groups that input into our training to shape the design and content, examples of these are NAVIGO in Grimsby and the MAAT Probe Group in Sheffield

Once we deliver our training to you we don’t just pack up and walk away. We are there to fully support your organisation with day to day advice and guidance. You will also have access to our National Standards Committee and Service User groups should you require any future information or guidance.

We are also proud to say that we hold evidence based research of reduction in restraint, restrictive practice and incidents where our programme has been fully implemented. Here are just some of the comments we have received about Respect:

MIND – Listening to experience

Mind commissioned an independent panel to carry out an inquiry into acute and crisis mental healthcare. The subsequent report into their findings and recommendations mentioned RESPECT training and how it can benefit organisations:
